Today I read the familiar story, told by Jesus, about two men who built houses. One paid attention to the foundation of the house, and the other did not. The same storms, it seems, came to each house. One stood, and the other did not. I thought about the work we do at Wright Christian Academy, joining hands with parents to lay solid foundations in the lives of our children—a foundation that acknowledges that Jesus shows us the Way to live, reveals the Truth about the purpose of our existence, and leads us on the path to abundant Life. I thank God for the foundation that was laid by so many in my own life, because when the great storm came and blew against my own house, it stood—to the praise and glory of God. This is my prayer for each of our students, past, present, and future: that their lives will be built upon faith in the unshakable love of God.

Our children are a part of a very confused culture, and they are going to face strong winds which will blow against their faith as they navigate life. In the end, it really doesn’t matter much how impressive the exterior of the house is. What matters a great deal is the kind of foundation they have at the base of their lives. May His Kingdom come as the foundation of the lives of our children here on earth, even as it is in heaven.
