Meet Miss Kjirsten Brown

Kjirsten Brown

What is your role at Wright?

I am the 6th, 9th, and 10th grade English teacher. I also am the assistant high school volleyball coach and the head women’s soccer coach.

What brought you to Wright?

I suppose the easy answer is that I was brought up at Wright. My parents invested in this ministry for thirty years and I was blessed to watch as they loved and served its staff and students. I attended Wright as a student for 15 years, and now have the wonderful opportunity to serve as one of its educators.

What is one of your goals for this school year?

My main goal for this year is to build relationships with each of my students, and provide them with opportunities to study literature in ways that broaden their perception of the world and their understanding of other people and cultures.

Tell us a little about yourself:

I am the youngest of four daughters. I was born and raised in Tulsa. I studied English at Oklahoma Wesleyan University and minored in History, Writing and Editing, and Critical Thinking and Persuasion. I plan to begin my Master’s in the fall of 2021.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time I like to read, write, and drink coffee.

What is your favorite Bible story or verse?

My favorite Bible verse is Psalm 27:13-14, “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!”
