Meet Mr. Chris Rucker

Chris Rucker

What is your teaching assignment at Wright?

9th-12th Social Studies, Drama Teacher, and Elementary Chapel Leader

BA in Sociology, MA in Theology, MA American Studies

What brought you to Wright?

Divine help from God above. I met Mr. and Mrs. Brown while a staff member at a local church. While a children’s pastor I spoke a few times at Elementary chapel and had the opportunity to run into Mr. Brown. I emailed Mr. Brown one day in the Fall of 2013 offering my book collection to the school. He replied and asked if I was ever interested in teaching history. My dream had always been to teach history and if possible teach history at a private school. I had been working on my state alternative certification but got distracted while working for a local church. God answered the prayer I had prayed from 2005 in 2013. I am eternally thankful for this opportunity.

What was your first-ever job?

I worked part-time after school at Kinder Care. I was hired the afternoon before I turned 16 years old.

What do you do in your spare time/special interests/hobbies?

I spend time with my boys and wife, Bonnie. I enjoy reading books and thinking about stuff. If time allows in the evenings I enjoy watching documentaries. I enjoy driving around town and thinking about stuff.

Guiding scripture of spiritual thought:

My favorite chapter is Ephesians 1. Especially verses 3-14. Paul outlines the blessings that come IN CHRIST and that means the world to me. It makes this life make sense. It encapsulates my thoughts about who Jesus Christ is and who I am In Him.

What else do you want the WCA Community to know about you?

My life does not make sense without the provision and blessings of the Triune God. I am thankful God counted me worthy to do His work at WCA. I love every day that I show up on campus and the time I spend with the students in our community. I am working/ministering in my dream “job” and for that, I am eternally grateful. WCA has been very good to me and I want to say, THANK YOU!!
