Meet Mr. David Eslinger

David Eslinger

Name:

David Eslinger

What is your teaching assignment at Wright?

College Algebra & Physics

Education:

B.S. Mechanical Engineering (Chemistry minor); Oklahoma State University (1979)

M.S. Mechanical Engineering (1994)

What brought you to Wright?

I had felt for a number of years that I would like to teach high school math & science at a Christian school following retirement.  In spring 2018 I was blessed with the opportunity to transition to a part-time consulting role with my employer. I contacted Mr. Brown and the timing was perfect for me to teach Physics at Wright for the 2018/19 year.  I feel very privileged to be teaching at WCA. God is good!

What was your first job?

Magnetic Peripherals (OKC) – now Seagate Technology designing floppy disk drives.  Worked on a team designing the first 5-1/2” floppy drives (seems very archaic ☺).

What do you do in your spare time/special interests/hobbies?

My main hobby is collecting and restoring 16th century English Bibles.  Early printed vernacular Bibles were the fuel of the Reformation and the Tyndale NTs were highly impactful on the formation of the English language.  Also enjoy jogging and a bit of trail running.

Guiding scriptures:

  1. Ga 2:20:  “I am crucified with Christ…but Christ lives in me…the life I now live I live by faith in Christ…”.  This verse says so much!
  2. Ps 90:12.  “Teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom”.  It is only on earth that we can impact eternity; I want to minimize time wasted in light of this fact.

What else would you like the WCA community to know about you?

I am blessed to have been married to my wife Cheryl for 40-yrs; we have two boys, Byron and Bryce (WCA 1997-1998) and two awesome grandchildren.
