Senior Spotlight: Abigail Austin

Name: Abigail Austin

How long have you attended Wright Christian Academy?

I have attended Wright Christian Academy for 13 years.

What is your favorite subject/class and why?

My favorite subject is history. I love learning about the past and how our world has gotten to where it is today. I have always been interested in politics.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I ride horses and workout with a personal trainer weekly. I love working out, and I would do that all day if I could.

What are your plans after high school?

I have no idea what I want to do after high school. As of right now, I am planning on going to TCC to finish my associate’s degree, while I figure out where my interests lie. I am leaning towards a major in nutrition or sociology.

What impact do you wish to leave on Wright Christian Academy?

I want to leave a big impact on the volleyball program at Wright. I have had so much fun playing here the last seven years. I want this program to continue to prosper in the future and to keep going in a positive direction.

During these unprecedented and different times we are in due to the COVID virus, what is one thing that has brought you encouragement?

I never had a negative outlook on the coronavirus because it did not affect me personally; I was still able to participate in my activities prior to COVID-19. I was not scared to go out into public places and to continue my life as usual. You cannot put your life on hold for fear of what might happen.

Share your favorite Bible verse or quote:

My favorite Bible verse is 2 Timothy 1:7, which says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
